 Geology Drift covered stream banks and lower dale slopes on faulted chert and sandstone strata below the Underset Limestone.
 Record Name Holgate Beck Woods and. Rispey Wood. Mixed deciduous woodland dominated by Upland Birch Wood and Alder Wood
 Record Description Species reduced woodland on the East Bank of Holgate Beck (Wych Elm very scarce and only at lower end by Goats Bridge) above Goats Bridge with old coppiced alder and birch locally dominant, but with ash, elders, blackthorn, hawthorn and hazel coppice also. This ancient wood has been protected by rabbit proof fencing and the regeneration of alder and birch has been remarkable, see photos. This demonstrates the sense of natural regeneration and the case against mass planting of established native woodland.
